and in with the new.

My Skyline came out with an L28 motor which is a long motor. Nissan modified the original cross member to suit this long motor, but now that I ran into problem with the shorter motor. Time for Yahoo auctions Japan to source a DR30 cross member which came out with the FJ20 motor.
Here you can see how far forward the orginal mounting positions on the cross member sits. The area is so bulky that I could not even fit a 50mm exhaust on here.

Now I am getting excited. Just a quick look to see how it all will fit :D

Now it is time to mount the engine. I purchased a couple of Ford engine mountings which is 35mm thick compared to mine which is 50mm thick. Back in the day I worked for a company which had a toolmaking room. Man I miss all that gear. Now it is manual labour time in my shed :(

I like the VQ treatment. It just make sense (hopefully no purists out here).

By the way, I am scratching my head around what turbos I should run with this motor. I have been out of the turbo game for more than 10 years, but here is what I think could work (on a budget). I am looking for two turbos, AR50 compressor on .48 exhaust. Now I know budget and twin turbo is a bit of an oxymoron, but hell, I like the idea if a twin turbo charged engine. I had a look on ebay for rebuild N1 turbos for a RB26 for roughly $1500. Would they not be to small? What are your thoughts out there?

the turbo on the engine already is fairly ok. it depends on what power you want and if u have space. no space in an R31 unless custom manifolds and have the turbos sitting behind the headlights.

I was going a z32 gearbox but now im thinking a z33 6 speed will be easier

If your looking for a stockish turbo I do an upgrade for them by machining the housings and using a Garrett stage 2 wheel and fits straight in, I have done one for a customer and he saw 430whp on 19psi which isn't to shabby for a stock looking turbo
