Howdy Everyone,

Thought id take a minute to spend some time talking about my never ending project, the vq 180sx. Its never ending because i'm pretty lazy and keep changing my mind about what i want to do with it.

So if we take a trip down memory lane, roughly 4 years ago the 180 had a Sr in it and life was grand. Grand untill i wanted a little more torque.
Along came a vq for sale, so i purchased this from someone who had made the mounts and done a-lot of the work, but never finished it off.

so at the time it was
Y34 Vq30det.
Y34 wiring loom and ECU + Y33 wiring loom and ECU.
R33? engine mounts, with a custom s13 crossmember to suit.
Z32 gearbox adaptor plate and machined Gearbox bellhousing, with suitable gearbox mount.

I also picked up a Z33 gearbox from another bloke, put it all together for a test fit and put it in the car.

Here is a picture from way back then

Since them, to be honest not a-lot has happened. Moved houses a couple of times, changed the direction the car was taking and generally lots of procrastinating.
Ive picked up some parts here and there. Including a second z32 gearbox, Nistune ECU, 5 Studd conversions etc etc.

Here is the most recent pictures i took about 6 months ago when it came out to get a bit of a clean.
Was playing with the soda blasting various things, to clean them up.

So as it sits now,
I want the engine to sit a few cm further towards the firewall, so the gearbox shifter fits better and it will also allow me to run the sway bar.
I have a Gt30 garret turbo i would like to run on the car, so i need to get a custom exhaust manifold made up.
Then i guess getting all the little things sorted, like cooling wiring and tuning.

Hopefully the new year will bring some movements with this, as i would really love to drive it again one day!
Cheers, Christian.

This was done with a gravity feed sand blaster from super cheap.
With the intake i used Bi-Carb soda in the gun, its verry good at cleaning grime off parts without damaging them.
With the outer casing of the gearbox, i used sand as the casing was to built up with dirt for the bi-carb to work.
